The Agricultural and Extension Education program prepares students for agricultural teaching, extension, production and technical agriculture positions or other employment in government, industry or entrepreneurship where competence in communications and leadership is required. Each student has the opportunity to choose one of three areas of emphasis – agriculture teacher education; extension, leadership and communications; or agricultural and environmental technology.
Graduates have found jobs in the fields of extension and teaching, as well as the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Credit, Farm Service Agency, and state and municipal environmental management agencies. Others enter the private sector or become entrepreneurs in farming, agribusiness and landscaping.
English Language Proficiency
All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Please see Office of Admissions - English Language Proficiency for more information.
