Program Description

Undergraduates can obtain one of two degrees: bachelor of science in agriculture or bachelor of science.

The Animal and Nutritional Sciences curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree will provide students with the opportunity to acquire the necessary background in agricultural economics, agronomy, breeding, nutrition and physiology to prepare for a career in livestock, dairy, or poultry production and management.

The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree provides the opportunity to acquire the necessary background in agricultural economics, agronomy, breeding, nutrition and physiology to prepare for a career in livestock, dairy or poultry production and management.

The Pre-Veterinary Medicine pre-professional program gives the opportunity to meet the academic requirements for entry into professional schools or colleges of veterinary medicine. WVU has agreements with Mississippi State University and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine for reduced tuition for West Virginia resident students.

Career Profile

Opportunities for graduates include animal, dairy and poultry production and management, testing and inspecting, technical sales, and basic research in private industry, education, and federal and state agencies.

English Language Proficiency

All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Please see Office of Admissions - English Language Proficiency for more information.
