The Hospitality and Tourism Management major is designed to meet the needs of one of West Virginia's major economic drivers. Students gain real-world experience in restaurant and hotel management by spending time in learning labs, including Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe in the WVU Mountainlair and Waterfront Place Hotel, including the Regatta Bar and Grille.
Tourism is a major economic driver in West Virginia. There are more jobs than qualified applicants in some states, including West Virginia. In 2014, hospitality industry employment nationally is expected to increase by 17%. The accommodations and food services sector makes up approximately 8% of all employment nationally.
English Language Proficiency
All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Please see Office of Admissions - English Language Proficiency for more information.
