Program Description

As a pre-professional program, the bachelor of science degree provides the necessary background in chemistry, mathematics, physics, biochemistry and modern concepts of biology to prepare students for professional schools of veterinary medicine, human medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, or graduate work.

Career Profile

The Pre-Veterinary Medicine pre-professional program gives students the opportunity to meet the academic requirements for entry into professional schools or colleges of veterinary medicine. WVU has agreements with Mississippi State University and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine for reduced tuition for West Virginia resident students.

English Language Proficiency

All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Please see Office of Admissions - English Language Proficiency for more information.
