HIIM professionals care for patients by ensuring their vital health information is complete, accurate and protected. This is a great opportunity for students who enjoy technology, business, science and a different type of patient care. HIIM professionals are trained in information management technology applications and understand the operations and workflow of a variety of healthcare organizations.
The new Health Informatics and Information Management program in the School of Medicine was approved February 10, 2017, by the WVU Board of Governors. Additional information about the program will be available soon.
Graduates work in a variety of organizations including large healthcare systems, physician practices of all sizes, healthcare centers and clinics, skilled and long-term care and others.
English Language Proficiency
All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Please see Office of Admissions - English Language Proficiency for more information.
